Yet another crazy Texas road that changes names every few miles. This one starts in Fredericksburg as Old San Antonio Rd., and then continues 19 miles to FM 473. Along the way the name changes to Old Fred Rd., and then by the time you get the FM 473 it becomes Old 9 Rd. Whatever it's called it is an excellent road with great scenery and fun turns. There is generally very little traffic here, but if you do get stuck behind a car it can be difficult to pass. The road condition is excellent with no cattle guards, but it is a little narrow-feeling at times because of the trees and the occasional water crossing. Police should not be a problem for most of this, but be extra careful the closer you get to Fredericksburg.
