RR 1631 is surprisingly clear of traffic considering how close it is to Fredericksburg. It mostly parallels Hwy 16 and is an alternate route to get from Fredericksburg to Willow City. The road is 16 miles of fairly flat, but still enjoyable driving. The first 1/3rd of it on the Fredericksburg end is relatively straight, but some long curves start to form as you continue north-east. This is a commonly used connecting road to get you onto 2721 or 1323 to get back to Austin via the backroads. There are no cattle guards and the road is in very good condition. Not a whole lot to see of interest, but it is nice, typical Texas Hill Country backroading.
